According to me, if children don't make noise then there is something wrong.

We were traveling by Shatabdi last week, just the kids and me. We were very tired but the kids refused to sleep. They kept chattering away and singing songs. At some stage I gave up trying to get them to sleep and just dozed off. I must have just close my eyes and 10 seconds later the lady in the seat in front of us woke me up saying I should ask my kids to keep quiet as they were disturbing everybody on the train. I was surprised as they were not too noisy and no one else complained. That lady must have been in a real bad mood or she must not have been used to children. Or else why would she complain?

I always think it is nice to hear children talk and sing. How can anyone even be irritated by it, I do not know. But anyway, after a few minutes the lady caught hold of the TTE and managed to exchange seats. The children continued to sing and talk for the next few hours till they reached Bangalore and everybody was happy!

Anyone come across such people who get irritated with the sweet chitter-chatter of children?

Boys don't cry!

This afternoon Abhi came home from school crying. He had fallen down in school, hurt himself in the knee and it was bleeding. Nothing too serious. But the cut was bigger than usual and ofcourse it was lunch time and he was starving. Even the slight bit of fall around this time would make him cry and this was a bad enough cut, so I was not surprised he was crying.

On the way home, one of our new neighbours stopped and asked what was wrong and when told, her reaction was "Abhinav, you are not a girl right? So stop crying." I had to control myself from making any comments. Why should boys not cry? Are they not human beings? Do they not have feelings? Do they not feel pain? What do boys do when they have pain? Throw things around? Get angry? What do they do? I'd actually prefer my child to express his feelings? I wouldn't want him to cry for everything, for that matter I wouldn't want Anou to cry for everything either, but if it hurts, I would want them to express it, if they do it in tears, that is fine with me. What do you think?

Chubby Cheeks

No... this post is not about nursery rhymes, actually, I will have another post on it. This is about chubby babies. One major comment that I hear from people when they see my children are that they are both tiny!

I am just back from the doctor who told me that my daughter is not heavy enough for her age. I cross checked with my public health nurse who thinks she is OK.

Why do have this obsession with chubby babies. I agree my son probably falls in the underweight category, but not my daughter.

Everyone has suggestions on how and why I should increase their weight and I am sick of hearing it at this stage. I keep telling them that I want healthy children not obese children. Both my babies know their bodies and eat what they need. When they say "no" to food, I stop. People keep reminding me that children do not know anything and that I should force feed them. My children probably are on the best diet possible. My daughter on an exclusive breast feed and my son on fruits, veg, and home cooked food and very less or no junk diet!

I am tired of telling people that children put on only a max of 2 kgs in a year (from 1 year old to 2 year old) and that is because they are active.

Anyway am not going to worry too much and go and get some healthy food for my son to eat :)

My little world

Here I am, trying once again to create a blog! I have lost count of how many blogs I've created so far and lost the URL to it. I think a lot, want to write a lot, but then when I think about things my laptop / pen & paper are not beside me. And when I sit in front of my laptop, my mind is blank. Probably when I sit in front of my laptop my brain switches to work mode and it becomes blank :)

I am going to write about my little world from now on. You may wonder what is so important about my little world that others may want to read. But then we all live in our little words which intersect each other and we have loads to share, don't we?

Hopefully I will find someday how to get this darn thing to say things in English instead of German and that might help me to continue writing my blogs!

Anyway, will stop ranting for now and get back to sleep!

have a nice day :)
